Has anyone done this before? Any recs on parks?
I like McCallister, Blossom, Walker Ranch...are there others I am missing that make a great place for a party for a child?

When you held one, were there other parties going on at the same time? How to handle that?

Thanks

Hardberger Park has new play structures. I honestly haven't paid much attention to whether it has picnic facilities.

I'm not completely sure as I've attended but not planned a party in the park, but I think you may need a reservation through the Parks and Recreation Dept. Hopefully they have some info for you online. I've seen several at Walker Ranch and I think it's a great spot for a party although I have to admit if it wasn't such a drive I have a soft spot for the play area at Brackenridge Park. I imagine that is very hard to reserve but it does bring back memories of field trips when I was a child.

Hardburger does indeed have picnic tables and bbq grills. It is a really nice park with hike and bike trails, a playground, and dog park. It is still a work in progress though so you will have to use porta potties until the pavillion is completed this spring sometime. Kids have birthday parties all the time there.

some parks will take reservations for covered tables and others it's a first come first serve policy. If you have the area reserved I wouldn't worry about other parties going on, there should be pently of room for kids to run around. If you go to a park that doesn't take reservations I would be there early to be sure to get the spot you want.

There are directions for how to make reservations there along with whats available. Last park birhtday party we went to was in New Braunfels at Landa Park. It was much nicer than many of the parks I have been to here. Lots of people came since it was not really that big of a drive.
