No kids around means mine are always out in the open, magazine is loaded, and a round is chambered.
No question about it... .357 is the way to go.

That's exactly like it is here. We all (Wife and Son) had a quick talk this evening about the current sitation. Our home has a Wrought Iron Gate approx. 20' from the front door. The gate is always closed and locked but all one has to do is reach through and open the dead bolt.

It pisses me off when someone other than Family or Friends don't use the doorbell at the gate. They'll just walk up to the front door and knock.

On the way home from dinner my Wife noticed the 300' plus long trail of stain on Westcreek Oaks along with the stained sides of the brick pillars. I meant to call the Office yesterday but somehow I became too busy at work. They will get a phone call Monday for sure. I've already sent myself an email.

Maybe you should put a sign at the gate. No, you shouldn't have to, but I bet it would help.

Great suggestion. I should have done that years ago. I thought about a No Solicitors sign but I hate the thought of causing Girl Scout selling cookies or School Kids selling items turning away. I'm a softy for that kind of thing. I can still remember after all this years what it was like trying to sell stuff door to door.

But due to what's happening I need to do something.

You may still get Girl Scouts, but NISD has a no door-to-door policy for the kids now. And usually the GS just set up at Walmart or Walgreens anymore. The door-to-door people we get in our neighborhood are just nuisances, IMO. But, if I want my trees trimmed or my house painted, I will find someone on my own. I've never hired anyone that came to my door.

There is almost always someone in my house and then there's the dogs and security system too. It would take a serious fool that has never heard of casing a place to hit my house.

They probably won't hit you then. There are much easier targets.

This is another reason why Security needs to be a BOD Priority.
I agree with a lot you say within the forum over the last few months. But, In this regard, I have to disagree. The BOD is not the authority in this matter. This is A Bexar County Sheriff's Dept. and the homeowners responisbility in protecting our family and assets. The CC&R's only cover very basic maintenance and property value issues. Crime and Safety is another story that we as a community need to take personal responsibility for. We as a community need to protect ourselves and be vigiliant in reporting issues. Today I reported a punk teenagerer speeding and spewing profanity at one of our residents; to include giving the finger and trying to run a senior citizen off the road in the Hills. This is something we need to come together as a community to defend through Bexar County Sheriffs ofc. Not the HOA. Take up the right issue with the correct authority.

Oh I agree! My boys are Eagle Scouts. I hate soliciting for these stupid cleaners, and all sorts of other crap that comes to my door -- as late as 10pm claiming their part of a youth group or reform organization.I am ready to spend the money on a pretty plaque that says No Solicitation. As a property owner what rights do we have to protect our assets and family. Being in a CC&R community we are limited to regulations that have been written so long ago and are no longer revelant. Like all things, changes take time and a process. No President completes his agenda in one term......A process suposedly protects all parties....
