I used to think that, but I gather the point is to avoid having your neighbor's yard become a flea market with sales every week. I suspect most HOAs would have rules about this, even if the city didn't.

For opaque fencing, the max height allowed in a front yard with a permit is 3'. Primarily open fencing (such as hog wire, chain link) is allowed with a permit to be 4' tall. The City determines appropriateness based on the neighborhood.

Side and rear fence heights are generally allowed to be 6' tall (opaque or open). These fences can be 8' tall if the property adjoins commercial zoning or a busier, non residential-type street.

I know it may be slightly off-topic, but I'm not sold 100% yet on rock yards. I understand the maintenance/low water/fashion aspects, but I worry about the inherent heat-island effects. Landscape helps to moderate the temperature of the microclimate. I'm not suggesting 100% St. Augustine yards, but some sort of "Texas wildscape" may be an option to look at and would be just as low maintenance.

I live outside of city limits. There are people here who have garage sales every weekend. One of them even refers to her garage sale as her little store. So by limiting the number of times people within city limts can have a yard sale, they prevent people from running stores in their front yards. About the charge for it, that's just the city wanting a piece of your pie.

I have the same thoughts about "rock yards" however, I've now seen some properties where rock is used for the strip near the sidewalk/street, then native bushes are used in the 'lawn" area in front of the house. Low water (tho still more than none) and minimal maintenance, and they look gorgeous.

Agreed. I've seen some really, really nice "rock yards". There is one in the Tobin Hill area that is very complimentary to the modern architecture of the building. The image posted above, however... could use improvement.

Default garage sale permits

NO i think it is no good to. Where i have a place in florida one does not need permit. Though in Cocoa Beach you need one BUT DO NOT HAVE TO PAY and don't think there is any limit to how often one has one. Bad enough requiring a permit but having to pay is really bad.
