I want let demographics stop us . One thing I love about this area even from some of the response that people seem to be awesome and open to all ethic backgrounds. That is awesome . We have lived with just about every ethic background and growing up to be loving to all I'm excited about being able to choose whatever area I want to be in . So far I love that area only other issue is I was told it does flood easy . Therefore we are keeping options open trying to stay in our price range of 400k thr most maybe 500k home.

Boerne is a nice place and if you want a good quality of life and good schools it is a perfect place. You asked about diversity and there is very little. It will be a good choice if you're okay wih the lack of diversity. In regard to the flooding you will want to check flood plain maps. South and central Texas are the flash flood capital of the world. It can and will happen, in places that are usually on those maps.

Definitely check flood plain maps before purchasing. If you live in a flood plain, it WILL flood at some point in time around here.

I wanted to come back and add this info as you said you have a son that will be going into high school ... My neighbor and good friend just retired a couple of weeks ago ... She was one of the high school counselors at Boerne Champion and she said out of the entire school they only had apx 10 African American students ... She said that the other high school, Boerne HS, had less than Champion, apx 5-7 African American students in the entire school ...

I just wanted to throw that out there so that if you do choose the Boerne area you can prepare your son for again, little to no diversity amongst his peers...

My grandchildren live in Boerne. I will say the town is very accepting of ANYONE. Most are transplants so you do not have the "old Guard" mentality of AH.

My older grandson counts as his closest friend a boy of Iranian and Italian descent. His wife to be(he is 9) is Chinese.

I find that character and goodness of heart are the criteria he uses for his friends.

I think being an American is FAR more important than any hyphenated ethnicity.

Being in the military should be a door opener. It is a very patriotic town.

They are the #1 or #2 School district in the region, who cares if its diverse. Its good for your kids, nothing else should matter.

I am sure the pc police here will delete this next part. But diversity isn't always and almost never good. And judging an area by its diversity aka race is called a certain word. You should ask is this area good for my kids and the answer is YES.
