Dear fellow San Antonians who spend 2 thirds of their paycheck on fireworks for New Years. I hate you. You are so ghetto and inconsiderate. The end.

Texans obsession with fireworks is borderline psychotic. You won't find this behavior in the rest of the country.

Isn't even simple possession of fireworks illegal in the city of San Antonio? Never mind actually setting them off?

Not illegal in rural Guadalupe county, but expressly forbidden by probably every HOA. Doesn't make a hill of beans of difference. Nobody pays attention and the HOA(s) aren't going to take any action unless a house burns down and they get sued for not enforcing the rules. Assuming they even CAN enforce the rules and can be sued for not doing so.

It's not exclusive to San Antonio. I'm really not sure how I would compare where I'm at in Austin but maybe like Marbach/410 area but with a bit more gentrification. I could not even see outside there was so much damn smoke. In my years in SA I never lived anywhere as bad as it was where I'm at here.

I usually tolerate all the noise for New Years...but last night my new neighbors down the street decided to have their own full blown fireworks show that lasted until almost 2 a.m.
Not the low-end stuff, but the ones that shake the house and set off car alarms kind.
Couldn't take it anymore, so I called their so-called "fireworks hotline" to report them (210-207-0202).
I called twice about an hour apart, and found out this morning my next door neighbor called as well to report these idiots. Nobody showed up. No cops, no call back...nothing.

These morons had a party with maybe 20 kids shooting fireworks in every direction...yelling and screaming all night. You should see all the trash they left in the middle of the street.
What good does it do to report illegal fireworks if they don't do anything about it???

I live outside the city limits but in our cul-de-sac we have one renter. Guess who the pyrotechnic champion of 2016 is? The renter. They mostly cleaned up but I will be setting off my own fireworks the day I see that U-Haul backed up to their garage. Can. Not. Wait. They are ridiculous.
