Husband and I are relocating to SA mid-late summer. Surfing the net for houses. Have seen some nice ones in Stonecreek. What can anyone tell me about the subdivision. Traffic? Local Stores? Husband will be working at the Medina Annex and we are looking for something rather close. We currently have one child that will be 4. Will need a decent elementary school.

TIA

We live in Stonecreek. We moved her from the Seattle area last year and are currently renting. Stonecreek is nice....and we are happy here but, I think if I were buying I might look elsewhere like Trophy Ridge or Amhurst....

There are lots of houses for sale and rent in the area (which may be a good or bad sign depending on your perspective) and the community pool wasn't built as it was originally planned. There is absolutely no shade at the pool - I mean NONE (unless you position yourself in the shade of the bathroom/cabana area.... Compared to other community pools in the area - it's just not as well planned. (I have two very young ones so the shade is very important to me....) Also, There are no paths in the neighborhood (not like the MLS listing indicated when we were shopping around...). The entrance to the community is on Marbach and, for many, Marbach isn't really considered an attractive street. As a result, we usually enter through Potranco - plus it's just better access to the stores we frequent.

The homes, however, are pretty well built and have some nice floor plans. Like I said, we are happy here but would change a few things if/when we buy. If you are looking at renting, however, it's a safe, nice neighborhood and you'd probably be very happy. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for.

Hope this helps. Good luck with the move.
