Oh, so this only negatively affects Democrats? Poor poor victims. How do you get through each day in this cruel world that is so against you? Do you people ever EVER listen to yourselves?

"Do you people"....wondering if you listen to yourself as well?

In Texas, I think most of us know how well the voting rules are handled and how districts are gerrymandered. It doesn't take a Democrat to realize this or feel it.

Try to follow along...."you people" is referring to Democrats. I know, it's hard.

That was my point.... I get that you are trying to turn this around as I didn't understand your statement...but I did.

This lady was lying at worst or extremely uniformed at best. I cannot believe she acted like she hadn’t voted since the law was effective. She did a whole interview on NPR and she showed decent mental capacity so it is sad to see her do this. More sad is a person in this thread trying to justify this “news”.

Claims of gerrymandering are way overblown. The old hag knew the rules just wanted to make a point. Proving who you are in this country would be so much easier in the future if all US born children were chipped like dogs. And I’m only partly joking on that.

Maybe she voted by mail in the previous elections. You can do that if you’re over 65. Sheesh, what a bunch of nasty people.

It’s no secret that the recent voter ID laws are being passed specifically to suppress Democratic votes. Many Republicans are happy to publicly acknowledge it.

The New York Times? Then I guess you can't say anything when I post this wikipedia link. The NYT is less trustworthy!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_..._controversies

They're not the bastion of fine journalism they pretend to be.

I would expect someone who has been so invested in the political scene in San Antonio would keep abreast of the rules. She was the mayor for 4 terms and a councilwoman longer than that. She is fully aware and this was planned to rile the bleeding hearts up. Ridiculous.

From what I read in the paper, the legislature just recently tightened up the regulations. In the past, if the poll workers recognized you, they could check a box and go ahead and let you vote. That option has now been removed. She, like many of us, probably was not aware of this change because it hasn't been advertised.

That said, while I don't object to THIS change to the regulations, and I'm not against the idea of having a photo ID, I do believe that the legislature is looking for every opportunity to suppress the vote. After all, why aren't student ID's allowed as an acceptable form of identification? Why make it so difficult to acquire an ID? Why aren't hyphen's allowed in names on driver's licenses - making them different from the voter's registration and causing questions. every. single. time!?
