We are looking at some property in the northeast/east part of Canyon Lake, and I was wondering if anybody has luck with vegetable gardens in that area? I heard that the soil may be too rocky for a successful garden.

You should probably consider a completly raised garden. You can garden just about anywhere if you raise you garden enough to give you ample soil depth. Plan on buying a good container mix especially made for raised gardens.

Question about this... what kind of soil would you buy and where do you get it? I used regular "potting soil" in the bag for my raised flower bed. I'm guessing I'd need a LOT more for a garden and not potting soil either... but buying it bag by bag will be pricey won't it? Can you get it in larger quantities somewhere?

There's a place called Fertile Garden over on 1604 W...they have piles of all sorts of landscaping and gardening materials.

Our CL yard is very rocky, but our neighbor behind us has a great garden. He does have a high fence because the deer are plentiful.
