take a trip down by woodlawn lake.
There's a place called Bandera Molino(a) on Zarzamora and W. Magnolia that also has a great kitchen
Also a place on the corner of Wilson and Woodlawn near Jefferson High. Not sure on the name though.
It's worth the drive to make authentic food.

I know it's not tough to find the one in the bag, where you add water and manteca, however I am looking for the prepared masa... call me lazy I guess, I want the work done for me.

This is a bit off the subject, but I a friend in Germany (a native San Antonian) who wanted to make tamales for her German friends. She had a hell of a time finding masa in Europe, of course. When she finally found it..the Germans ruined the tamales by pouring gravy on them!! Of course, they didn't like it and replied, "no wonder why Americans are so fat".

Ohhh! I am SO sorry - I'm showing my lack of reading comprehension!

I really did wonder where you were looking that you weren't finding it.

I can't think of a place around La Cantera that has good maza or any at all.

We buy maza at Celorio's. I think it's by Culebra and 38th street. It's close to downtown. If you ever feel like taking an early morning drive. They also sell barbacoa and tortillas.

So far that's one of the best places we've bought maza for tamales.
