How much do you think the raw materials for pasta, sauce and breadsticks cost? Fazoli's prices were closer to the true cost than a lot of places.

That's what I was going to say. Pasta, bread, and tomato product is C-H-E-A-P and the places charging $9.95 for a plate of spaghetti are the real ripoffs. Even with meatballs.

Well then why buy a mercedes when you can purchase a kia?

I found the pasta to be gummy, as if it were overcooked or as if it had sat in water for a while.

The sauce was runny and overly salted.

The veggies were obviously previously frozen.

Nobody "cooked" the food; they barely really prepared it.

In general; pasta, red sauce, bread are cheap items but can be quite elaborate and more costly if prepared with quality ingredients.

I actually read the ingredient list for Fazoli's Alfredo Sauce and decided not to order it, it was darn near 7 inches of typed ingredients!!!! That is NOT the way a quality chef creates Alfredo.

If you said SA was always packed AND it was good....I might give it another try.

Crazier things have happened.

Why does every restaurant that people feel the need to spew advice about have to cost $50 a plate and only be served with the finest wine?

I seriously doubt that the majority of people make those kinds of places (either a Fazoli's or a Sandbar) a habit to eat at. If you do spend your money at the higher end places many times a week, my opinion is you've lost your marbles. And this is an opinion board.

So what if some people like a cheaper, quicker meal once in a while, that they didn't have to prepare themselves? There are Mercedes nights, and there are Kia nights.

edited to add...I've never eaten at Fazoli's--they were gone before I had a chance to try them. If they do reappear, I'll give them a shot.
