Try around Big Tex and Blue Star Arts Complex... Lots of texture, grit, abandoned warehouses, railcars, etc. It really does well for both color and B&W photography.

Taking pictures down by the historic missions are great for photos. We got some great family photos. Be sure to get a permit from the parks department if you bring a professional photographer with you. We learned the hard way. If you're shooting pictures yourself or a family member- no permit needed.

I guess I could give you a secret spot. If you are familiar with Potranco near 1604 then you know of the Randolph Brooks FCU. It is wedged between two subdivisions. In any case, drive there on a nice Sunday afternoon and go to the back like you are going through the drive thru. You will be pleasantly suprised.
