Thanks again for all the ideas
You can however make your pants into a life vest

So like a tornado, flood, or nuclear attack? Or just in case you haven't been to the store in a while?

SHTF happens when there is a disaster, either natural or man-made, that causes a breakdown in civil order, and/or disruptions in the supply chain. Examples are total economic collapse, large scale terrorist attack, long term power outage, disruption in the oil supply, disease epidemic/pandemic, meteor impact, alien (the space kind) invasion, or maybe even zombies.

Well, we already have a federal agency telling us how to fight against zombies:

I ate them when I was in JROTC in high school. They are bland tasting boring food which were barely average for eating. I'd rather stock up on fruit (canned pineapple) etc.

Has anyone ever tried shipping food over to the troops? Something that reminds them of home like ... like a breakfast taco or chicken fried steak?

There are numerous organizations the build "care packages" for troops deployed overseas. The services prefer people work through them since there are operations security concerns over information that could divulge where individuals and units are located. I would recommend contacting the USO who are actually sponsoring care packages for the Fourth of July...

Quote:
Send a July 4th Care Package

Our troops put their lives on the line every single day in order to protect our nation. As we celebrate our freedom this Fourth of July, honor the strength and courage of our military and show that America cares about their sacrifices by sending a USO care package

For every $25 donation you make, the USO will send a care package with $75 of needed and requested items to a deployed service man or woman.

Celebrate July 4th by helping to support our troops, lift their spirits, and honor their service. Bring a touch of home to our troops – make a donation now using the form on the right.
I can tell you your efforts and contributions would be gratefully appreciated!

Cheers! M2

Just thought I'd post quickly that Costco now carries Shelf Reliance food storage in #10 cans. They have dehydrated fruits/veggies/meats, etc. We've used the Spinach in cooking as well as lots of the fruits for snacks out/about, we've been very pleased. Here's a link: Costco - Grocery & Floral - Food & Water Storage
