Good evening/morning all! First off, thank you for all of the help about 1.5 years ago when I moved here practically sight-unseen from Chicago. You guys/gals are awesome! Now that I've been kicking back in HB for a while, it's time to move along. The kid wants a house like she used to have and I can't possibly afford to rent one here. $2500 for a 2bd house is just not in the budget. (I sure do miss the good ol' days of having $!) We've been taking road trips every weekend to further cities, i.e. Corona, Lake Elsinore, to try to find a quieter and less expensive place to live. (of course, schools come into play too!) The DH works in and around the OC at various job sites so we want to try to find somewhere that will be within an hour or so commute. He leaves EARLY and gets off early so he shouldn't hit the super-heavy traffic. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

What's you budget? Temecula/ Murrietta for family and great schools, maybe a wee bit more than an hour though.

Murrieta/Temecula hands down. Excellent schools, very safe, clean, and family oriented. The commute time will depend on what time you are commuting. If you are driving during normal commute hours it will be a lot more than an hour.

Corona seems like a good deal. It is basically the closest IE city to OC.

Corona is OK. It is pretty safe and is definitely closer to OC. To me it would be much more important to be as close to work as possible unless you plan to go to OC every day. The big traffic problem getting to OC is on the 91 going west from Corona. If you are not going during the commute hours then it is not a bad commute at all from Corona. To me, the biggest downside to Corona is smog.

I would highly recommend Corona. It's close to Orange County, quiet, safe, decent schools. Right now, there are a lot of good deals on homes too.

Corona, Norco and Eastvale are all pretty nice. Norco is great if you want to have horses or other farm animals. They all share the same school district, Corona-Norco Unified.
