Have visited (from the east coast) several times and really like the area. We're thinking of buying a retirement home there, playing some tennis and watching the annual tournament, enjoying the sunshine and fresh fruits and vegetables, etc.

What do you think?

Can you handle high temperatures 90-107 degrees on average for 7 months of the year? A little tough for aerobic outdoor sports like tennis.

Want to add that I actually love hot weather, and the desert cities always provide so much of that great solar energy! My body seems to run cool, so high temps don't seem to bother me much.

The Coachella Valley would actually be a nice retirement area.

I play tennis most of the year but I'm a 40-year desert rat. You have to play in the early morning with the long shadows. I can't play after 10:00 AM during the summer months. Because it's a dry heat you seem to feel better in it but don't let that fool you; you've got to drink lots of fluids. I seen lots of folks appear to be doing well and a few minutes later they're down.
