I lived at Haven/Lemon and it was so loud at times that I couldn't sleep.

Redlands south of the 10. Many old Craftsman homes as in Claremont. It is not a bad commute (use Redlands drive over the hills into Moreno Valley and avoid the freeway gridlock) and a very nice community with the same feel downtown as Claremont has. This may be due to Redlands University, just as Claremont with theirs.

If you wish more space Norco is low crime with large property lot sizes and an affection toward horses. A middle class area with a lean towards better educated populace. Eastvale next door is upcoming with new housing everywhere but quite a bit more cramped if that is an issue.

Riverside itself does have a nice areas along La Sierra Ave towards Lake Mathews but you would have to check on the schools.

Not sure if this is true. Live near RC and work in Corona. The breezes are better on RC which seems to send the smog east. Don’t think it is really a problem in either area tho. I’ve lived here 32 years and smog has been greatly reduced in that time.

Definitely move to Riverside! I moved here a few months ago because of a job offer at Kaiser Permanente and I was almost going to buy a home in Chino Hills until my real estate agent told me about a neighborhood called Woodcrest which allowed me to get a newer semi-custom home on 2 acres with 5 beds, 3.5 baths, and 4,200 SQFT for only $720,000! In Chino Hills that would have gotten me half the house and on a tiny lot. Riverside has plenty of brand new communities in your price range such as Bella Vista Estates ($750,000-$1,000,000), Tramonte by Lennar ($650,000-$750,000), The Estate Collection at Woodcrest ($750,000-$1,000,000), and The Trails at Mockingbird Canyon ($1,300,000-$1,600,000). I recommend you download the Redfin app and go to “Map View” and look at the homes in different neighborhoods to see what they have to offer and a rating of the local schools they are zoned for. Woodcrest is zoned for top rated schools and the city of Lake Mathews has the top rated Corona schools but it’s a 30 minute commute. Definitely look closer towards Lake Mathews (even Lake Mathews has beautiful custom homes with large lots for very cheap) in neighborhoods like Lake Hills Reserve, Orangecrest, Woodcrest, Hawarden Hills, Mockingbird Canyon, and Arlington Heights. There is a lot of entertainment here like The Tyler Mall, the shops at Mission Grove, and an amusement park called Castle Park to name a few. The city is growing fast and there are plenty of developers proposing new shopping developments. It’s only an hour away from the beach with moderate traffic and 2 hours away from DTLA with moderate traffic as well. Good luck!

Woodcrest and Lake Mathews very underrated! I guess there just isn’t a big demand for large lots nowadays

If you live in Corona you won't be far from Glen Eden.
