With all of the news recently regarding layoffs, class sizes, etc. The info I'm getting from places like GreatSchools.net seems outdated.

My children are currently in the Gilbert, AZ school district (elementary) and like it very much.

I've heard wonderful things about Etiwanda though and I'm curious if there's any personal experiences regarding how the recent teacher/education news has affected the actual schools in the district?

Hi. I have my kids in Etiwanda School District. It's a GREAT district. Here's the inside scoop and I'm pretty close to some of the teachers at a local elementary school.

The district has put aside 10%-20% of it's budget. They have done this for the past few years - 3-5 i presume. Therefore not ONE teacher lost their job when schools and districts started their cutbacks. They have enough money for the district to sustain their current student/teacher ratio which is VERY low! I have 3 kids and each one of them has about a 20/1 teacher ratio. Thats pretty damn good!

Rest assured, if you move to the area you'll be happy with the quality of the schools and teachers.

Good Luck!

Yeah from what I hear Etiwanda is pretty financially sound. Our kids use to go there and my husband is a principal in a neighboring district that is not as sound financially so he hears things. I miss the district it is not prefect by any means but a really strong district with a lot of positives nonetheless.
