My wife and I are considering renting in Claremont. We like younger (but not bar crazy), walkable, older neighborhoods with shopping and restaurants, and Claremont looks like the best bet in the middle of the LA/OC/IE area. I would be commuting to Loma Linda (looks like 30-45min each way by car). I think I should have relatively few traffic issues as I think I'm somewhat going against traffic but correct me if I'm wrong. She will either be commuting to LA (would take MetroLink) or Orange/Irvine (no easy public transport option so by car). From what I'm seeing on Google maps and Sigalert, it looks like her commute to Orange/Irvine would be 30-45min as well. Does that sound right? It seems like she'd be going with traffic, and Google's with traffic times are about double. Thanks for any input.

There is a big difference between driving to Orange and Irvine. Irvine is much further time wise. No way you will get to Irvine in under an hour. the 57 gets slammed in the morning so it will be around 45 mins to get to Orange. Loma Linda will be an easy drive, probably take about half an hour.
