hi, I will be in SD soon and rented a car for the day to show a friend around. Would you suggest driving the scenic 59 mile drive apparently there are seagulls on a sign you follow? We will only have a car for the day.

Well...I've never actually driven the 59 mile tour, but from the link below (please leave out #16, the Sports Arena pitstop) , it definitely takes you thru alot of the must-sees in the area. I'd keep driving north of La Jolla along the coast and thru the beach towns of Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, etc. Definitely drive across the bridge to Coronado, too. Just make sure you stop and smell the roses along the way!

"Note: Some of the seagull signs may be missing or turned; follow the directions as written."

Very true. Bring a map or gps with you. You'll probably get lost along the way.

At Mt Soledad Park, park the car and walk around a little. There are some great ocean views from up there.

Wow, that's the first I've heard of the "59 mile drive". It seems like a great idea, though!
