^^^I moved to San Diego for the weather, beach, and other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed year round. For me, that is what makes SD great and that's really all I need.

Well to be honest if I do not buy a house here in northern California I may move to SD for the exact same reason - the nature. But it will be a 3 yr-ish stay if I do. There are only so many days one can go to a beach. But would be nice to try for the hell of it.

Happiness is all that matters and everyone finds it in different ways. For me, the San Diego lifestyle and its simplicity makes me happy. Cheers

Lol maybe I'll cut it to 2 yrs. Or, 1.5. The beach was nice. But good god if I am surrounded by people that continually refer to a beach or sun as the end all be all I think there are very few people I'll make any sort of meaningful connection with down there. And in turn probably vice versa.

I can't drink the water in San Diego--it's disgusting. It smells like dog pooh and the taste doesn't make you want to come back for more. Honestly, the worst city water I've ever tasted. San Diego is not my favorite city. I live here because I have three children in the area and grandchildren. If they weren't here, I'd be gone in a flash. It's not at all sophisticated; you are just in a big cow town. In the US, I've lived in San Francisco, which is probably, along with New York City, the best you'll find. In Europe, I prefer Paris, then London. In Asia, I love Hong Kong. Funny thing is that most people who live here think it's the center of the universe, which it might be if there is a Hicksville in the center of the universe. No thanks, as they say, "I'll take Manhattan."
