Coming Tuesday morning with my wife and our daughter. Staying till wed night then drivung up to Riverside to see family. We were planning on staying in Pacific Beach at the Best western right on the beach. Any objections? Tuesday will be beach day. Tuesday night 5 adults and one child out to dinner. Any fun friendly suggestions for that? Wed morning either the Zoo or Sea World. Need a little help on this one. What would be better for a 2.5 yr old girl in your opinion? Also any other quick and fun things we can squeeze in a day and a half would be appreciated. Thanks all!

I've never been to SD (going in May with a 15 month old) but from doing some research the past fews days you can't go wrong with the Zoo if it's just for a day. Also look into Balboa Park

Our most recent guests went to both the zoo and Seaworld. They liked both but were more impressed with Seaworld.

As for a family dinner, the Catamaran Resort would be a nice place: Catamaran San Diego hotel & resort for premier accommodations
It's an easy walk from the Best Western.

REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR SUNSCREEN!!! And apply it often.

I've never been to Seaworld, but I think Seaworld involves more opportunities to watch shows while sitting. The feet can only take so much walking around, and that's pretty much all that the Zoo is about. Do that for a few hours and then everyone gets cranky and tired. -- and I'm just referring to the adults!

I agree with the above posts. SeaWorld for the win.

Bring sun screen and bathing suit for the little one. There is a little water playground for toddlers. If it is not too cold, it might be fun.

Also, don't miss Shamoo.

Wow... we much prefer the Zoo to Seaworld... maybe because our now nearly-3 year-old boy never gets tired and there is so much more to explore and see. Seaworld is cool for the one-day event - but minimal return visit value and has a real concrete jungle feel to it. If you like to sit on your butt, you will definitely prefer Seaworld.

I few years back I took my neice and nephews to Legoland but they were a bit too old for it (10-14). That theme park was designed for real little kids.

This is true, but for the 2-7 year old who's into Legos, it's hard to beat. And for parents who will cringe at the cheesy feel, small size, and 1-minute roller coaster rides, they have booze and some pretty good food.
Depending on the kid and his/her individual interests, Legoland may give you more bang for your buck than the Zoo or SeaWorld.

This is true. It's a class act mostly.
