We finally decided on the area of San Diego to live in as we transfer out there this summer. The particular location we are looking at is right on the borderline to be zoned for either Hearst Elementary or Maryland Avenue Elementary. They both look great online (we are out-of-state so haven't visited either in person yet), the only notable difference being that Hearst is San Diego Unified SD and Maryland Ave is La Mesa-Spring Valley SD. So is there really a big difference as far as schools and/or districts for that area? Our oldest is going into 4th grade, so although we are only looking at elementary schools for now, we also want to keep in mind the middle and high school options for later.

Any opinions and advice are appreciated! Thanks!
