I think well-informed people, liberal or conservative, agree that there are many things wrong with this country that can be improved and that some countries have programs beneficial to their citizens that we don't have.
America needs to do a MUCH better job of taking care of its own, especially with our troops coming back from the war and people who can't afford healthcare! We need to stop policing the World.

I think there is a lot of excessive flag waving "cod patriotism" which is cynically designed to manipulate people and sell crap. This is why Fox News has over 30 US flags in its intro segment, why Manchester puts nationalist headlines on all of his newspapers, and, yes, blind nationalism can very much be a bad thing because it ignores the reality of our failings and how things can be improved.

Check out this video segment because it is absolutely true:

Well I never thought this string would go in this direction. I was merely looking for a free local news outlet. There are some good suggestions though....I had no idea there was so much politics involved in charging for online services.

There arent, unless you actually care to pay attention lol

This isnt exactly limited to just San Diego either. The NYTimes has been doing it for a while with 10 free clicks a month, then pay. Actually they are one of the first in the industry that is internationally recognized to have successfully done this so far. Because they are providing a lot more in depth coverage across the board which does bring value to what they report.

If things were done the 'right' way, VOSD would be a multimillion dollar non profit because it does investigative journalism locally and not necessarily for popular opinion or selling ads.

Is it right? No, but then again its only temporary. With consumerism, people wont buy a product for the long term if its not right or doesnt provide some intrinsic value.

So again, who cares what Manchester is doing? Go to another website like your local Patch.com, KPBS or any one of the various news channels

If you really feel like 'sticking it to the man' then follow the instructions I gave about deleting the Super Cookie and click on UT pages all day long without getting charged. lol
