Hooray Xolas, I was wondering why our neighbor a few doors down was blasting a soccer game and screaming like crazy! congrats to TJ, but being our next door neighbor, we too can take pride in their victory.

As a huge soccer/futbol fan I am very surprised that San Diego has never had a pro soccer team knowing how huge this city loves futbol and being next to Mexico, it should be a given.

I believe once a new stadium is built somewhere, the MLS will definitely looked into expanding here, but not until a 30,000 seat stadium minimum is constructed first.

I went to an Xolos exhibition match up last year when they faced the LA Galaxy at USD or UCSD I forgot the exact school, and the Xolos beat them.

There fans are crazy and exciting, and it's great news to hear that they won a championship. Finally our area has something to cheer about. San Diego is a cursed sports town that is for sure, so in many ways, I'd rather see any and all pro sports teams ( Chargers, Padres are you guys listening?) just be played in TJ from here on out, since maybe then, they might win a championship.

San Diego is not blessed in the winning category unfortunately. Our sunny weather, and calm city leads us to being way too soft, and that shows up in the games when the Chargers and sorry Padres play.

Thinking about going to a Xolo's match from Phoenix. Might stay in SD as I hear it's an awesome place to visit. What are the logistics to getting to a match from SD? Where do I get match tickets? Can they be purchased day of or is it best to get them ahead of time? How is the travel from SD to the Stadium? How long does it take to cross? Etc, etc...

Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bumping this thread. I am still eying a trip to Estadio Caliente and hoping someone new will see this. I have been hearing there are shuttles that leave San Diego and drop off at E.C. with a return trip after the game. I am still doing some research.

If you can't find shuttles, Estadio Caliente is not terribly far from the San Ysidro border. A cab ride on a Taxi Libre might run you about 6-7 dollars each way.

I agree. Probably better than the shuttle.

Uber recently started up in Tijuana. Might be an option for you.

Oh man, public transportation is so cheap and abundant in Tijuana (albeit not always the most modern), I figured they would never need Uber or Pink Mustache. You have busses, calafias, collective vans, all different kids of taxis, not sure how successful Uber will be there .

It is definitely a releif to have it here where taxis are generally overpriced and scarse as is in most America cities.

Nice! I can live with a $7 cab ride from the border. What's the scoop on match tickets? Are they readily available on game day from the box office and/or scalpers? I've heard there is a shopping mall in National City that has a Xolos shop with merch and tickets.

I've bought tickets before on www.ticketMaster.com.MX with my American debit card and then picked them up at the will call window at the Ghandi bookstore in Zona Rio before.

But if you can buy them in National City and avoid the foreign transaction by using Ticket Master Mexico's website, I say do it.
