Hello,

I am a 23 year old male with a M.S. and B.S. in Criminal Justice who wants to move to San Diego and become a member of their police department. I will not move out there until I receive a job offer. I currently live in NJ so I am wondering how the application process would work. The recruiter said for out of state applicants, they group the written, physical, and pre investigative questionnaire into one weekend. Does anybody know how many more visits I would need to make for the other examinations ( background, medical, polygraph, psychological)...as I do not have the luxury of making multiple trips. Has anybody been through the out of state application process and care to tell me what they do exactly/ how many times you needed to go to San Diego to complete the examinations?

Thank you

Your best best would probably be to ask on one of the LE specific forums - I think the forums at officer dot com have a continuous ongoing thread for SDPD. Many of the participants there are officers.

Good luck, it won't be easy. I know guys qualified that are stacked up waiting for a shot. Best bud was on as a volunteer for a year before they cut him a break and started paying him.
