Hello, I will likely be taking a job early next year in Tijuana. I am pretty sure I don't want to live there, so I am looking at options where I can commute from the San Diego area. I will be working near the Otay Mesa crossing, so I think I should be OK crossing the border every day with SENTRI.

We have 4 kids age 11 and under, so living in a good school district is key since we can't afford private. From what I have been able to determine, my best options would be Coronado or La Mesa-Spring Valley school districts. I think living in either of those would take me about 30 minutes to Otay Mesa.

We will be renting since the job is a maximum of 3 years; it seems like there are very few rentals in Coronado (particularly on Silver Strand or south side of town, which I think would be best for me heading to Otay Mesa) so perhaps La Mesa-Spring Valley school district is a better choice?

Anyway, I would welcome any thoughts on my ideas above and/or suggestions of other places I haven't considered.

I live in a northern neighborhood, but the names I hear most often recommended for being closer to Tijuana with kids and good schools are Eastlake and Bonita.

Yes, Bonita and Eastlake. They are close and are good areas. Bonita is more established and Eastlake is newer development.

why not live there too and save a ton of money. Just cross the boarder to visit.
