It seems like the crime is starting to pick up in City Heights again. I thought it was getting better.

It might be. When I look at the UT all the gang activity is mentioned in areas like Normal Heights, Chollas View, etc. I'm not sure if those are sub-commuties of City Heights or not.

Besides the crime, has there been any redevlopment? I know there are groups set out to make some streets look better, but overall it seems to be one of those areas that will never get better no matter what they do to it.

I read an article, maybe a year ago, and an former Chicago cop who's beat was in City Heights said that it was one of the most, if not the most dangerous area he has ever worked. It was something along those lines. I was thinking, City Heights must really be that bad to have a former Chicago cop say that.

I think areas like Normal Heights, North Park get bad reps sometimes because crime does slip its way beyond City Heights.

I always felt like that about city heights, its just TOO congested, I dont think it will ever change

and you got a link to that article? I had fam that used to stay off of Wightman and Van Dyke, I swear it used to be a war zone over there

there's been ALOT of redevelopments, mainly around Fairmount and University, but even that seems to have reached its peaked and I dont see much else going on, the rest of city heights is relatively the same just not as wild...but crime is defenitely picking up and its not gonna slow down either, you can feel it

I can't find the link anymore. I don't even remember the keywords I used. For all I know, they could of written it and took it down a long time ago. It just really stood out for some reason.

Can't be.Look at this

In 1993, three teen boys were killed in a gang-related fight at Hoover High School. The community reacted and spurred efforts to reduce crime in the neighborhood. The City Heights Business Improvement Association erected billboards that declared Welcome to City Heights, San Diego's Crime Capital. Won't Anybody Help? to gain city officials' attention.

It won't be like that again in a long time.

They asked you for an address? That's weird, or they might have been just asking so they can get a feel for you to see why you're up at 1 am. Trust me, they'll give any excuse to see what you're up to.
