I'm curious to hear some local resident's thoughts on the new community park in Encinitas set to open in the Fall.

I live very close to the park and am excited to have such a large and nice park located within a short walk of my home. However, I'm wondering how others feel about the park and what effect it will have on property values of near by homes?

Yea it is. I think its somewhere close to 50 acres filled soccer fields/skate parks/dog parks etc so it should be pretty nice

I think it's an amazing community asset. When you consider what had been there for generations (the Hall property greenhouses), the new sports fields, skate park and just open space are a huge improvement. That said, I'm sure the NIMBYs in Cardiff who fought it tooth and nail (too much noise, too much traffic, the lights are too bright, etc) aren't happy about the increased traffic through their previously quiet neighborhood. So a win for local kids and the community at large, but probably headaches for residents who live right next to it.

The increase traffic was my thought too. That being said, I already deal with noise from the freeway so its not as big of a deal for me.

Do you know where the entrance(s) to the park will be? Will the park be free or is there an entrance fee?

From what I've seen, the entrances are off Rubenstein from the west and one off Mackinnon or around there from the south that you can see if you're on the freeway. Most people are concerned about the Rubenstein entrance as that's a narrow residential street. As far as I know, it's a city park and it's free. They'll charge for leagues to play there, but just to visit it's free.
