My family and I moved here a couple months ago, and are really enjoying all that San Diego has to offer. Since we live on a single income, and I homeschool our kiddo, I am looking for low cost and free things to do. Does not have to be educational necessarily. Just anything worth checking out.

I know about resident Tuesdays at Balboa. Any other cool things to share? Thanks in advance!

We love jogging and my kids love going to the new County Administration building waterfront park downtown. Once a week we jog from Embarcadero Park South, through Seaport Village to the new park along the water front pushing a double stroller and my son rides his bike. We get our exercise and my kids get to play at the fun new park.

100% free unless the kids convince us to stop at Seaport Cookie Shop.

If you haven't yet, look at a copy of the SD Reader. Some of the events they list are free.

I was looking for specific cool things that may not necessarily be in the travel guides, but more things that "the locals" do or go to.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

All Free (in no specific order):
---------------------------------
- Mt. Soledad
- Mt. Helix
- Local Beaches (Coronado and Imperial Beach are my personal favorites)
- Visit Historical Hotel Del Coronado
- Old Town (Good free history lesson)
- If you have a Bank of America Credit Card, Birch Aquarium, Museum of Photographic Arts and SD Musuem of Art are free on certain days: Museums on Us®
- Picnic at Kate Sessions Park (Awesome views of Mission Bay and Downtown)
- Feed the ducks at Otay Lake or East Lake
- Pepper Park in National City gives you good views of the import cars being off loaded off the huge car carrier boats from overseas and loading of the cars onto the train carriers to be whisked off to other west coast and mid-American cities.
- Great views of the airport runway from Columbia St to watch airplanes take-off and land
- Bonfires on Mission Beach
- Miramar airshow (almost) every October
- Hiking Torrey Pines
- Go straight to the top floor of the Hyatt in downtown to see great birds eye view of San Diego and beyond.

And lots more ....
