I have a very small job that I'm trying to get help on and I haven't been able to find a single person - I have a sink with a rust spot, I want to pop out the sink and put in a new sink. The sink is tiled in, so I need someone who can do the plumbing stuff and then tile in the new sink without damaging my existing tile. Now I know what you're thinking about tile, but I'm not ready to remodel the entire kitchen just yet.

Wow, I can see why someone would be nervous about taking on the job. That tile likely isn't coming off without breaking (I've demo'd many tile countertops). Also I doubt you are going to be able to match tile from another era, at least not this tile. They make a product you can use to re-enamel tubs and sinks. Not sure what the stuff is called or exactly how it's applied. There are several businesses that re-enamel though. Google tub refinishing San Diego and it should give you a good starting place. This is a popular method with many landlords/apartments since it's much cheaper to replace the coating than a sink typically. So I'm betting it will be cheaper than swapping the whole sink. This is going to be your best bet unless you want to replace your counter top. Just tossing some friendly advice, I am a contractor.

I've had a bathtub refinished, and had someone come out to check my sink. Basically most places won't guarantee work, and most places definitely won't refinish if there is rust present.

Really? I'm not doubting you but at the same time I have referred some messed up tubs to guys that do the same stuff here in AZ. I'd assume that is just surface rust from the enamel chip (pretty damn common and number one reason people refinish) and would be sand-able down to clean metal pretty easily.

Edit: Look at companies example sink and look at op's sink. Op's sink in waaay better shape. It's not an extreme rust case. Just spotty surface stuff.

I flip homes and have done these types several times - you'll damage the tile no matter what. One option would be to break the tiles around the sink and replace with a complimenting color once you replace the sink (if you don't want to replace the countertops also.

BBB is a business, if you don't renew with them, they'll give you an F rating. They basically force you to continue to pay them $500+ a year once you sign up once. It's an absolute scam. I just checked out Cal Chip Repair and they have zero complaints, which means they most likely got the F from not renewing. Just don't pay the company until the work is completed and satisfactory.

This is what I did ^. That one above would look really nice with some reddish brown tile on the edge of the sink if you go new.

Zero complaints though. Likely just a non renewal. Don't pay upfront, you should be able to see the finished product before you pay the invoice.
