I know they come in July and August but good God, this weekend seemed like an invasion. I have never seen so many AZ license plates in San Diego. I guess with the 4th, Comic Con and the natural appeal of the beach they came in record numbers. They definitely took over the golf courses this weekend...I couldn't walk on anywhere. Couldn't get breakfast anywhere decent either....way too crowded.

Then probably one of the biggest mistakes of the weekend, the wife and I rode the motorcycle to the Del Mar Fair yesterday. Amateur move but we hadn't been in a few years so decided to go and see the fireworks. Getting out of their was like a scene out of the new Mad Max movie.

I wonder if there is a way to charge admission into San Diego County as you head westbound on I-8 coming up the grade. We could use the money for the drought and homeless problem.

I guess Im just getting old and don't want to deal with crowds anymore.

Woohoo, we don't get Zonies here! But we get LA day trippers at the beach.

California should charge tolls at the CA/AZ border, in much the same way NY charges tolls for the invaders from NJ.

We decided to be brave and headed to the beach, what a freakin zoo. It was both fun and completely insane. We got there Early Sat and by Sat afternoon everyone that decided to stroll down late started showing up. I mean, if you get on an elevator and you see there's no room do you still try and jam in? Man, it really brings out the worst in everyone.

My zonie experience was this clown got tired of going slow waiting for his right turn so he whips over in the bike lane and punches it. Unfortunately for me, I was in the bike lane, on a bike of all things. I was perturbed but the guy riding behind me I thought was gonna drag the zonie out of his car

I have seen lots of Nevada License plates also.
I was at the big bay boom last night, and there seemed to be a lot of people from out of town.

I was driving around with my Colorado plates but I grew up in San Diego. I was in Del Mar on Friday and it was a mad house. Luckily I knew how to get around unlike some tourists that have never lived there.

Tourism is a huge industry in SD...a very popular vacation spot and a huge source of revenue. I'd like to think we San Diegans would treat our visitors well. I've taken vacations to states where "natives" don't treat people well and it stinks. I hope we're better than that. Anyway, I think most of us were visitors to SD at one time and that's why we chose to move here. We should know by now that summer gets crowded here. Anyway, I sure wish the sun would come out

Part of me chuckles about all the rain and marine layer we've been getting recently. I keep thinking to myself, "I bet those campers didn't expect that"

As for Zonies, they crow endlessly to one another (in their native habitat of Arizona) about that coastal weather, so rest assured that they are bragging online about how awesome the cloudy cool weather is in San Diego.

The Zonies worship at the alter of San Diego.
