I'm back to work at the FanFest tomorrow. Another long day.

Pretty cool and very commercial (trade show trying to sell lots of merchandise)....couple of really neat interactive items for fans as well as MLB Network broadcast and the memorabilia silent auction...made it to the 9th inning of the National HOF trivia contest and lost out/eliminated when I could not name who was on base when Bobby Thompson hit his game winning HR. Came that close.

A ringing endorsement of the drinks and food at Petco:

Yesterday was the last day of the FanFest, now I get a few days off before I start working Comic Con.

Great event all week...I got invited up to Skybox at Diamond View Terrace by Fox Sports to watch the HR Derby...went back yesterday for batting practice and got comp'd a free ticket to the game (pretty good seats to boot).

Wasn't able to make it downtown to check out the All Star Game scene, but the reports in the national press sure sure seemed impressed by Petco Park and San Diego.

USA Today proclaimed it's the best ballpark out there
San Diego’s Petco Park is the best ballpark in baseball | For The Win

ESPN like the food.

Lots of positive tweets from everyone include Peter Gammons from ESPN who suggested that the All Star Game be held in SD every year. Isn't that what they also say about the Super Bowl?

And I don't about you, but I loved the brown and yellow uniforms they used for the Home Run Derby, but apparently many people hated them.

The best thing that happened at the All Start game was MLB naming the NL batting title after Tony Gwynn. Pure class. I am liking the new commissioner.

I was watching the homerun derby with my wife and I told her I want to move back there. The weather looked perfect.

^ ^ ^

...I played on the same intramural softball team in college with Manfred (MLB Commissioner)....he was our team's catcher, which meant he was not a very good player...very bright guy though (went on to Harvard Law).

They are the best. I don't know of any San Diegan who doesn't like the brown and yellow - - it seems like outsiders are the puzzled ones. I wish it was their colors all of the time.
