Has anyone noticed how skimpy bikinis have become in recent years? It's practically mainstream to wear a thong bikini nowadays..

IDK about SD, but that style has been trending in other parts of SoCal for at least 15 years. I read an article back then about a family that moved back to LA after years of living abroad, and the little kids were commenting, as the family strolled along the beach, about all the bare bottoms. I don't know why it would only be reaching SD now, though. Is it a more conservative community, generally?

Not saying it hasnt been trending this way for longer, but I've really only noticed how prevalent it has become in recent years....its to the point where full coverage bottoms are in the minority when they used to be mostly what you would see with a few thongs sprinkled in

Definitely become more prevalent this summer! I was visiting the beach in SD last weekend and noticed the same thing. In fact I remarked on it to my friend who lives down by the beach and he agreed it's much more apparent this summer. Maybe I'm getting old but some of the girls looked far too young for such bikini bottoms.

Yes, all my friends agree it's much more prevalent in recent years..
It is a little unsettling to see what appears to be teenagers next to their 40 something mom, both wearing thong or super cheeky bikinis lol
