Anyone seen these? They're all over National City, especially at the trolley stations, and they seem to be pretty popular.

Apparently, they're just in National City and Imperial Beach.

They have now received a permit in the city of San Diego and are popping up all over. In addition, San Diego will be the first city to receive their electric scooters, Lime Bike S. We should also start seeing the electric assist bikes soon which will help ease the hills and canyons.

I just texted my neighbor last night after downloading the app and noticing that they are EVERYWHERE! dozens and dozens of limebikes in our hood already.

Great concept- especially the e-assist bikes to takes us back up to South Park Mesa from downtown after a ball game.

Of course there’s the inevitable this...

But I’m sure they’ve got that covered.

Tried one out after our weekly Sunday walk downtown. Went from our house straight down 28th to Logan Heights, Barrio Logan and then Petco and on to the library. Passed by many along the way until Petco Park where they all disappeared in downtown proper (none showing up on the app) which disappointed us as we wanted to try one back to home. Walked to the bus stop at Smart Corner and lo and behold there was one e-assist right at the bus stop. Scanned the reader with the app after entering my cc # and the lock snapped back and off I went after saying bye to my husband haha (only one bike) and throwing my architecture library books into the basket.

I would describe the e-assist as mild, giving you the odd sensation of being a strapping strong 16 year old boy with which the ease of pedaling is almost nothing. It does not however push you up the steep hills with equal ease. You do have to pedal hard. But it is definitely easier than not having e-assist and as the bike is very heavy you know it has to be helping. Since it only took 15 minutes to get home and I think you rent them by the 1/2 hour I rode around the neighborhood for another 15 minutes enjoying all the smiles, points and acknowledgement of folks in the know of them.

Great concept and now I don’t have to buy an expensive e-assist bike myself and worry about it getting stolen and the ride was definitely quicker, cheaper and funner than the bus.

Edit: it is a flat $1.00 per 1/2 hour for the pedal bikes. E-assist bikes (and I guess they have electric razor scooters) are $1.00 to unlock and 10¢ a minute.

Unfortunately, they insist on texting you a registration code. Since Skype doesn't seem to accept texts that's a no-go for me.
