Oh and the suggested tip amounts were 20%, 22% and 25%.

Yes, I agree and it makes me angry that a corporation/business would implement that---I am surprised that servers work there, since that surcharge is, more than likely, taken out of their tip! Probably will not be back there again and definitely eating home more often (which kills me since I LOVE going out!).

Can you break that down please ?

Are you only talking about ~2% of total bill (20% of 8%) ?

One small pizza = $14-16
One glass beer = $7-9

$16 x 2 = $32
4 x $8 = $32

$64 + %8.5 tax = $70

+ 15% tip (yes we are good tippers, and no I'm not interested in arguing about it)

Total $80

Was pizza good or not?
It is said always order Large size pizza as best value related to area calculaton (bring home leftovers)
15% tip: did you tip on the overall total including tax, Or the subtotal excluding tax?
Do you frequent this restaurant more than once, Or regularly Or one-and-done?
15% is at the very lowest tip range (unless you tipped on tax) which is what I do if bad-average service And at a place I will not return to; 17.5% is my starting point

The pizza was fine. It's pizza. One size was the only size available. Tip on the pre-tax value. One and done, will never go back. Normally tip 20%, for whatever reason that day only tipped 15%. My opinion eating out is probably the biggest single waste of money, only second to digital subsriptions for TV / internet services.

Pizza is pizza. I thought you were from New York. Too much time here. Jk .
If one-and-done, 15% on pretax is fine.
Yes eating out is a money waste (I just fed three folks burgers (excellent quality beef - one-third pounders each) for $2.50 total (sale), not including extras (vegies, fries, etc) and much better than going out, but eating out can be a very nice thing now and then, especially when traveling.
Actually, drinks when eating out are the real waste of money.
How can one Not do internet service these days (I got my cox monthly bill down to ~$60 though would like to get it in $30-40 range)???

Tourists do really care about what they eat, but restaurants that cater to them aren't after repeat business. That's the main reason I don't care for travel---you can't get a decent meal at any price I got tired of dropping $100+ for a meal and walking away hungry!
