I agree with you. I don't make the rules, I'm just reporting them

Motel 6's, Red Roof Inn's, La Quinta and more hotel chains allow pets, but you're not going to find a place with a kitchen. Resign yourself to the fact that you're going to have to eat out, but you might be able to have a small refrigerator put in your room.

I agree, because you could get a lot less.

The landlord has no duty to put you in accommodations at all. They cannot charge you rent during the days you are not living in the unit, but there is no law that forces them to put you up in any other accommodation or pay for your food.

If you have renter's insurance, your insurance company should cover any expenses incurred due to your displacement.

Update- landlord gave us the check this morning for $350. He is not discounting our rent or prorating it for the 3 days we are out, but we do have the money to work with. I am staying with a friend and hoping it wont be too uncomfortable.

He also said that they will be putting the whole building under construction and that there will be work happening. There already has been work happening and I work from home so I hear it. Jackhammers, hammering away, Mexican music blaring....

He mentioned they will be raising the rent after the improvements when another tenant asked.

I cant wait to leave.

I don't know who said anything about an ice chest, but it wasn't me. I said, "small refrigerator."

Whenever I have stayed at hotels they have provided small refrigerators for my insulin at no additional cost.

Where should the landlord get the money to write all of these checks? You talk about being "made whole"... what about the expense of tenting for termites? Can the landlord raise rents a few bucks a month to be "made whole"?
