I have two boys and I want to hike/ride bikes/camp, but it seems everywhere I can find is either paved or not in SD. Anyone know of good places to take kids for outdoor activities in the SD area?

Torrey Pines Preserve is awesome for hiking and ocean views.
Ever done the bike ride thing at the beach with tidepools? My kids and I kill hours exploring tidepools in Cardiff, Encinitas, etc. And it's FREE (unless you pay to park).
For camping, I think it's hard to beat the San Elijo State Beach Campground in Cardiff. It's right on the beach in Encinitas and a popular campsite for people from all over.
Maybe I'm just a beach guy.

I think your kids will love the San Diego Beach Information scene. You can spend hours digging in the sand or frolicking in the water. And if they pick up any kind of surfing, boogie boarding activiites, you will be there every week end.

As far as hikes go, Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is pretty nice. Fishing at Miramar Lake is also quite fun and if you don't fish, you can also try Biking at Miramar Lake . Balboa park is also a nice place to walk around. Not really a hiking trail, but you can combine the walk with one of the museums there.

Mission Trails Park
Nature Centers (Chula Vista and San Elijo, and Imperial Beach)
Joshua Tree and Anza Borrega are great but outside SD city and hot this time of year.
