What percentage of this hiring involves non-citizens here on work visas?

A heartfelt thanks to all of you who have responded to my post. It is difficult living in another country and not knowing where to start. I appreciate your comments and kind words. Clearly we have some homework to do and decisions to make; the first of which will be to visit San Diego in the very near future.
Cheers

If you listen to some people, it's still 2008 around here. Not so.

I'm also curious like oddstray about that?

Also, Tony out of curiosity, what do these SEO type jobs you're talking about pay for salary? It's probably commission based as well? But what is the typical amount someone could expect to make? It seems like there are TONS of companies all over the place doing this. I get hit up at least a few times a week from SEO places all over the world so I'd have to think the competition is fierce. I was always curious what those SEO type jobs paid?

Is it enough for someone that isn't even a resident here (but assume he will get a visa to work here) enough to support a family and a few kids in San Diego??

And I'm not saying there aren't any marketing jobs in San Diego. That would be ridiculous. What I'm getting at is there aren't a plethora of high paying marketing jobs where someone from another country (that is currently a realtor) could probably get hired to make enough to easily support his family with a few kids.

Again, not saying they aren't out there but if you read between the lines of what the OP is asking and their situation with a few kids and having to go through the visa process, etc. I don't think San Diego is appropriate for them. Do you?

Like any densely populated area, the greater San Diego area has good neighborhoods and bad neighborhoods. Just be aware that there are very, very bad neighborhoods. If you can't afford to live in a nice place, I would reconsider. Like, for instance, be careful with Oceanside.

For some context, a very, very bad neighborhood in San Diego area is equivalent to a sketchy but liveable neighborhood in Chicago.
