We are currently living in a lovely gated community in Newport Beach. My DH has secured a fab position with a fab company so we are head to the North County area!!!
I would like a gated community, as he will be doing some traveling and I would be alone.
Can anyone recommend some areas we should consider looking at?

Carlsbad/La Costa and Encinitas/Olivenhain have some gated communities. These neighborhoods are generally very safe, so you may feel ok with doing without gates if you find the right area. Good luck.

I prefer installing home security alarm than gated community. I live in Bressi Ranch in Carlsbad. I love it, though we paid way too much for it back in 2005. Do you need a realtor? I know a good one!

It's pretty safe in La Costa/Bressi Ranch and the surrounding areas, you wouldn't really need to live in a gated community. My family has lived in La Costa since 1985. In our neighborhood, the only home invasion that I've ever heard of was a few years ago, and the people who did it were contractors that our neighbor hired while she was away on vacation.
