I've got a challenge for those of you that know the food scene here. I'm afraid nobody can pass. Here's what I'm looking for:
1) a place that serves good sandwiches.
I'm sure many of you think you've got answers. But, I'm not done yet.
2) a place in the restaurant to sit down to eat. Those delis in grocery store/7-eleven type places with no seating are out.
I'm guessing this kills 95% of your suggestions.
3) fresh brewed iced tea. Not farking cans of snapple or fountain crap.
Anybody still playing?
4) a place where the customer is allowed to get their own refills at their whim and without extra charge? Not into having to beg a waitress for refills.
5) a place not named Subway. Actually, Subway is perfectly fine. I just hope that Subway is not my only option in the entire city of SF!
Thanks to all who played and I'll be shocked of anybody wins!

doesnt exist

most good sandwich shops are small business owners, they dont have self serve all you can drink no extra charge

thats something only a large chain restaurant might have, like a fast food restaurant

Locust Street Deli in Walnut Creek.... used to eat lunch there every once in a while (most times I was a brown bagger) and this place made a turkey sandwich to knock your socks off. With pickle spear on the side. And covered sidewalk seating....

I cheated since I took you to WC -- but I don't work in SF, so I don't know SF....

Darby Dan's (South City) has great sandwiches. It's been a few years since my last visit, hopefully it's still in business. I can't recall what the ice tea situation is.

There was this other place, DiMartini's, on Bayshore in RWC, that was even better but they rolled it up and retired a few years ago. Not only did they have sit down indoors they had a nice sun drenched deck out back. Man I miss that place!

Restaurants in San Francisco at Frommer's

Quote:
For more than a decade the readers of Bon Appétit magazine have named San Francisco their top city for dining out. And for good reason -- with more than 3,500 restaurants offering cuisines from around the globe, San Francisco has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States.

San Francisco also attracts some of the world's most talented chefs, drawn not only to the creative freedom that has always defined San Francisco's culinary scene, but also to the year-round access to Northern California's unparalleled abundance of organic produce, seafood, free-range meats, and wine.

Subway and Panera are the best you've got? Now I know something else the East Coast has over you foodwise.

Not so fast my friend. I did stipulate a somewhat unique set of conditions. Not that far-fetched IMO. But many people like yourself may absolutely love a lot of the places here that aren't what I'm looking for.
