You're joking right? There's not a day of the year one can go without a jacket past 5pm in San Francisco.

bigdumbgod I'll take Guidos over any person in San Francisco. Screw the Vegan Hipsters, Marina Chicks, and all of the other people that think they live in a major city. I can find those people in any city in America. San Francisco is done. Nice to visit but not worth 3,000 a month in rent. I'm relaxing in my 2700 2br in brooklyn with my door open to my patio that spans the length of both bedrooms. I keep getting updates to my email because people are responding to my posts. otherwise I would not be posting because I'm having too much fun. As far as being stacked on top of each other, I only have 1 neighbor and that has been the case for 10 years. Don't just spout things that you do not have any idea about.

Last week I met Miguel Algarin the owner of the famous Nuyorican Poet Cafe. He liked my style. As a jazz saxophonist I am meeting with him Tuesday at my apt to work out songs on his upcoming CD. I took a bike ride to Prospect Park, ate at some Cali style farm to table restaurant, hit up a jam session hosted by members of Wynton Marsalis' Band til 4 in the morning, walked across Brooklyn bridge, walked through chinatown and back across Manhattan bridge. Now what am I missing. I'm doing all of these things in a bigger apt for the same price I was pay in SF.

I visit SF coming from NYC every two years to visit relatives in the Sacramento area. No way am I NOT going to SF when I'm that close. I came back from a visit of San Francisco and Sacramento a couple of years ago and started to create a post asking "Why do People think SF is in the same league as NYC" but thought better of it because I felt it would only start a war of sorts. I was very disappointed after walking around SF and found no where near the quantity nor quality of restaurants that you can in NYC. In NYC, you can walk with a blind fold on and turn into any door and 9 times of 10 the food, regardless of what nationality, culture, cuisine, or price point the food will taste good!

Heck, that even includes street venors, Papaya Joe's or the more recent $1 pizza joints that have popped up. But the restaurants in SF left a lot to be desired. Most appeared so unappealing from the outside that I had no stomach to go inside and see what was on the menu. Now natural beauty, magnificent views -- that goes to SF! But beautiful parks (Central Park - need I say more, Bryant Park), the NY Public Library, true diversity of all types of cultures, nationalities, and ethnicities, fabulous arts & performances, excellent restaurants, and best place for a self-guided walking tours ---- all of this goes to NYC!!

Dude there are tons of "Tech Zombies" in SF too. They live in the Mission, Noe Valley, SOMA, and tons more places, and they ride nice company buses to work and back every day. And SF is a part of silicon valley anyways.

Compared to the Midwest or the Northeast, SF doesn't even have winters so not much effort needed to "handle" it. Go live in Minnesota or Vermont for a few years and you'll love SF winters when you come back.

And how does that light jacket in the winter in SF compare to the 3 sweaters, long johns, snorkel down parka, scarf, gloves, wool full face hat, insulated boots, thick socks, ear muffs, etc. that you have to wear in the winter in North Dakota?

I've got to wonder where people who complain about SF winters being too cold originally come from?

But they aren't the dominant species that characterize that region, like is so for SV. And SF is not in a valley.

It's not a matter of the "winters being too cold" but that there is never a summer in San Francisco. Even in the greater Bay Area warm & sunny days are at least 10 degrees cooler with the wind factor. Hardly the ideal year-round climate many Friscans believe they live in; most of the areas of the country which have true winters also have 6+ months of T-shirt weather throughout the year.

That's why so many people love to live in the Bay Area - because it rarely gets unbearably hot and humid during the summer as it does in most other parts of the county. Besides, it does get into the 90's in the South Bay and into the 100's in the East Bay during the summer on many days. And, yes, in the South Bay, you can wear T-shirts and shorts for 6+ months a year. I doubt you can do that in Minnesota.
