Seattle is like a prettier San Francisco.

They look the most alike. Sydney is warmer, but... SF isn't colder, so they even grow identical vegetation.

Hmmm...I didn't think so at all when I was there last year. Maybe just being on the coast part?

Sacramento! It's where half the SF, priced-out population relocates. The rest go to Oregon and Washington.

I once read a short article in an airplane magazine which described San Francisco as being a combination of NYC, Paris, and Tokyo. Sounds about right to me

I was basing it on a few factors, coastal setting is one of them. Overall, it's charm and elegance in an amazing natural setting. And, of course, amazing food.

I like that! Then I just read in travel and Leisure a description of San Francisco as the love child of Boston and Honolulu, but looking like Barcelona. Also accurate! I think the point is that San Francisco has many different influences and neighborhoods that are each unique, so it's really hard to compare it. It really is a bit enigmatic!

What was their reasoning? SF is so much smaller and less vibrant than those megacities.

San Francisco may be comparatively tiny, but it punches way above it's weight (size) in global importance.
