Can you please put a dollar amount on pricey? I'm currently in San Diego and pay $1,900 for a 2/2 apartment in the most boring suburbs.

Can a 2/2 be had for around $2,000 - 2,500 around central ave?

I was looking at $1330 for a 400 sq ft junior 1-bedroom, but I'm finding now by looking at comparables that was sky high. You should be able to find something similar to your current situation if not cheaper.

All I can say is when you're apartment hunting bring a buddy or a knife/gun with you - last apartment I went to the guy offered me acid and whipped out his .. thing...

Default Lodown on the Landing at Jack London Square

I've taken the Virtual Tour of apartments at Jack London Square. Anyone know anything about the area? Or the management? Are there places in Alameda that are newer and have gated or garage parking? Someone out there has to like their place....right??

Jack London Square is spectacular and considered quite prestigious. The prices can rival expensive neighborhoods in San Francisco.

Downtown Oakland, Lake Merritt and Jack London Square are all safe and proximate areas to Alameda where you can find 2BR's, many very new.

Based on your requirements I'd say stay on the downtown side of the 980 freeway and skip eastlake and laney college areas.

That is weird, but how often does that happen? I have witnessed a gunfight between two gangs in one of the best neighborhoods of San Diego on a Saturday afternoon. Pretty scary, but hardly the norm.

Just my 2c
