Check out your bank account, it'll drain faster than you can imagine.

Drive up Woodside road into the hills. Lots of hiking, picnic areas, beautiful scenery, and it eventually dumps you out into highway one on the ocean. If you really want to get ambitious, keep following the one South to Santa Cruz, the most fun place in California.

Downtown, at the old capitol building, they have events, especially in the Summer, but year round. My wife and I like to go ot the Dia De Los Muertos procession every year, but they also have summer concerts, Shakespeare and the like.

Down in Mountain View three or four freeway exits away, there is a cool place you can hike along the bayfront. I can't remember what it is called, but there is an old Mansion there called the Rensgstorff Hoause that is allegedly haunted, and it kind of looks like the haunted mansion in Disneyland. A small manmade lake where you can go cayaking.

San Francisco is only a half hour or so away.

Cross the Dumbarton bridge an go hiking in in Fox Hills in Fremont. I love crossing he Dumbarton because it looks like you are going out in the the hinterlands. Of coures, Fremont is just behind the hills, but I enjoy it.

Go for a drive! Drive west on Hwy 84 (Woodside Rd) in RWC and go through Woodside and drive to the top of the Santa Cruz Mtns and enjoy the redwoods (stop at Alice's Restaurant for a burger). Continue west on 84 thru La Honda and drive to San Gregorio (stop at the general store in San Grogorio and browse around). Drive north on Hwy 1 towards Half Moon Bay. Plenty of state park beaches to stop at. From Half Moon Bay, drive east on Hwy 92 back to Redwood City.

An alternate route is to drive up Hwy 84 to the top of the hill and drive on Hwy 35 (Skyline Blvd) in either direction along the spine of the Santa Cruz Mtns.

Watch out for bicyclists and motorcycles - they're all over the place!

1)Check out the Cantor museum on the Stanford campus. Admission is free and parking is free on the weekends.

2)In Redwood City, go to Middlefield Rd(north of Fifth) for some great Mexican food.

3)Visit Mountain View downtown for many different types of restaurants and be sure to visit the fantastic East West Bookstore on Castro St.

4)Check out downtown San Mateo and the second little downtown on 25th St. in San Mateo.

I used to work in RWC and have a few favorite places to eat:

Sancho's Taqueria (Oak Knoll location) - good Mexican place, not as cheap as others in RWC, but in a great location
Gourmet Haus for beer and sausages in the back of the store. An experience!
Crouching Tiger - solid Sichuan place
iDumpling for Northern Chinese
Donato Enoteca - upscale Italian
Martin's West - good bar food

Shoreline Park is what you're thinking of. You can walk along the bay, see different birds. And you can have lunch at Michael's Restaurant and sit outside if weather is good.

Pretty obvious, in any case, hang out downtown.

Also, and you don't have to be a born again to enjoy this, Bethlehem A.D.

'tis the season.
