Thinking of moving to Oakland by next summer. I am a web developer and would like to know what areas I can look into for relocation. I am 27 black male looking for hip, diverse areas with things to do. I am into art culture as well as outdoor stuff. I am also a gamer and date interracialy as well as my own too. Hope to hear some good suggestions. Oh and also looking for studio apartments between $1000-$1600

Hey, this post is very similar to the one I just made haha. I'm also black and also a gamer (and tend to date interracially).

$1000-$1600 is a pretty low budget for any desirable area in Oakland. Studios in decent neighborhoods start at around $1750 and 1BRs are upwards of $2500. Are you open to room mates?

I would stay in Atlanta if I were unless you get a good job offer. With the budget given, you'll need to rent a room in a shared apartment if you want a decent area.

Just to chime in, there isn't a lot of desirable apartment inventory priced at under $1800 in the entire region. Unless you go really far or in an undesirable area.

Go to Austin, TX. Atlanta prices with a Bay Area vibe.

Austin is pretty expensive these days, def not Atlanta prices but it's also not Bay prices either.

Didn't know that. A few years ago my dad bought a house in a suburb of Austin; the house was cheap, big and in a safe neighborhood.
