Owned a modest home in the Richmond which needed substantial repairs. Just Sold it for $1,710,000.

Don't know where the housing market is headed but I was very happy to take the money are run.

My wife and I own a home in Gilbert, AZ and while I prefer the weather in SF the city of Gilbert is much cleaner. It's a bit boring in Gilbert but I'm over sixty so that's fine.

Anyway, will always return to SF from time to time given I was raised there but the 1.7 million I got is unbelievably.

The couple who bought the home paid cash and that was that.

I know Richmond doesn’t rank in the top 10 ‘most dangerous’ cities anymore, but the headlining stories over the years (and its extremely high violent crime rate) haven’t helped much to alter its ‘harsh’ image. I can’t say I blame you - enjoy Arizona!

Richmond is a district in San Francisco (I imagine that's what the OP is referring to).

Enjoy your retirement!

Richmond is also a city in the east bay; OP did not make the distinction in his original post. Most people who live here (especially those who have been here any length of time) know the two can be confused - which is why those who are referring to SF will specifically say so (to be sure it is not confused). Those who do not distinguish it usually mean the city of Richmond - and he didn’t make the distinction; I guess he needed you to do so for him. (And now he has modified his post as well).

Thank you! I thought the OP meant Richmond across the Bay, and was thinking "WHAAA?!"

You're very fortunate to have enjoyed a life in the Richmond district, OP. What a wonderful neighborhood! Would you mind providing a link to the property, so we can take a peek? Out of curiosity?

You're in for quite a change of weather, in AZ, as you know. Just wondering; did you ever give any thought to buying in the Puget Sound area, say, on the Olympic Peninsula, where RE is still cheap, the weather's cool, lots of beautiful scenery, water for boating, and it's not quite so boring (local festivals, etc.)? Ever been up there? I'm wondering how you chose AZ. For the sun?

. I see he said "the Richmond", which I missed, when I first read it. I'm ok with taking responsibility for missing that cue. Just goes to show how easy it is to confuse them.

No - he modified it after the error was pointed out. Nice try, guys.

Really? It used to say, "in Richmond"? No, a long-time resident wouldn't do that...

I didn't write "in Richmond" or modify my original post.
