I grew up in Orange County and now live in Marin. There's a certain amount of high-minded smugness here, but it's far preferable to the bloodthirsty talk-radio ranting that passed for political discourse in OC. And most of the time I don't discuss politics with my neighbors anyway. I wouldn't say "worse" is a good way to characterize it.
And one of the reasons Marin is such a good place to live is that same knee-jerk soft-left greenish politics that you dislike. If there were Orange County politics here, there would be condos from Stinson to the Sonoma County border, four times the population, and idiots protesting the teaching of evolution in our schools. No thanks.
