Lakeside is a nicer residential part of Downtown.

The residential projects around the Jack London Square Area are all pretty upscale and have attracted that sort of customer.

Now that I think about it, the only parts of Downtown where Id think about crime is the section of Downtown right along the 980 freeway and also around Telegraph and Grand. Other than that, Downtown is quite liveable.

In fact, Im moving to Downtown Oakland. LOL

I live in Downtown Oakland right on Broadway/Grand. The only really "Unsafe" parts I would say are down by 7th near the Acorn Housing Projects (Obvious) which is Technically West Oakland. It's amazing how much they are cleaning up Downtown. Around the 12th and Broadway can be sketchy at night because a lot of people like to hang out around there and i've seen some stuff go down, but there is really nowhere to live it's just commercial rather than residential anyways.

Where downtown? The majority of it is fine, but the heart of downtown (around 12th street BART) is sketchy.

I'm considering moving to the Prescott/ Central Station Neighborhood in West Oakland. With the redevelopment through phases, that area is safe right?

Maybe if they raze the Campbell Village and Acorn housing projects. It's still a pretty dangerous area, but then again, so was South of Market in SF, and that got turned around very nicely.

I really dont want West Oakland to be like SoMA. I hope West Oakland develops in such a way that doesnt push out poor and/or black people. Instead I like how its currently attracting edgier alternative types of newcomers who happen to have money. Real Artists and the like.

Anywho,
Im having somewhat of a difficult time finding somewhere big enough for us and all our stuff. This really big loft that I saw a while was perfect till I found out had sold

Oh well, I'll keep looking.

The Park Bellevue(where I lived when I was single-this isnt my unit though-just a pic from a realtor website) has an open floor plan..

But the kitchens are just way too small.
