Hi all,
I was accepted into SJSU recently as a transfer. My wife's a nurse in Walnut Creek. We're trying to find some place to live in the middle of the two.
Some notes
-I'll be doing the ROTC program, so I'll be out at the school 5 days a week... some days for PT at 630 am, some days for class at 8.
-She works 3 days a week in WC, starting at 7 AM
-We're looking for a house up to about $425K (VA Loan is pretty much worthless these days)

We've looked into Pleasanton, San Ramon, and Dublin... but is there anywhere I'm not thinking of? Livermore doesn't appeal to me, as that would add significantly to the commute.

That is a pretty far drive, you should look into where you originally had in mind. Pleasanton, Dublin, Danville. The Sunol grade is probably one of the most backed up area's in the bay area. I would hate to have to deal with that.

How about Fremont? It's on the BART line, it has an express bus to SJSU, and even if you were driving, at least the one that was going over the Sunol Grade would be doing it in reverse commute direction.

I'll definitely have to look to Fremont. Our other concern, which I forgot to mention, will be about resale value/rentability. I'll be off to flight school (hopefully) in 2012, at which time we'd probably like to rent the place out for a few years.
