Definitely a great event. I second the Bijan recommendation.

What other activities would anybody recommend to combine with Christmas in the park? I live an hour away and not familiar with the area. I would like to come early and spend the afternoon with my family and stay until dark to walk thru the Christmas in the park.

The Tech Museum of Innovation is right across the street, and the Children's Discovery Museum is a short walk down the block.

The Tech Museum is neat. I haven't been there in years, but as I remember they have some cool IMAX movies that play there in addition to the museum exhibits.

When the place is packed, these are a good thing. Kids don't wait.

Yeah, right now it is low key because it is so early. But around mid-December it is packed, and those portables are very useful, lol.

Default rides

we love the rides. short lines, if any at all. $15 (up this year) for an unlimited pass. kids love it.

you can easily take light rail if you want to avoid traffic / parking. just take the "san antonio" stop.

they also an ice skating rink setup there.

i have to say, porta-potties are a necessary evil of modern life. what's the alternative? people peeing on the ground?
