I've been around San Francisco, San Mateo County, San Jose most of my life

I love the stable weather. It's not too cold, not too hot, and there's no snow to shovel.

Where else in the USA can I get this kind of weather? I ask because I'm trying to avoid the high cost of living and high taxes in California.

Is there anywhere in TX or FL that's like this?

Sorry no. Otherwise everyone would have already moved there and it would be just like CA. Try the Mediterranean.

Nowhere in the US matches up with California climate which is a big reason holding people in despite high taxes and COL in Cali. There are plenty of areas of Mexico and also Peru & Chile that have comparably nice climate.

IMO, that area from Atlanta to Charlotte that is in the foohills above 1000' elevation has probably the next best climate in the US along with a few areas of Arizna, Nv, NM that are say 4000'-5000'.

So basically, you can't have it all...you gotta choose what's more bearable, high COL and taxes with great weather or better economic conditions with worse climate.

I think there are climates that come close, or are at least very tolerable. But California has no question about it the desired weather, if that's what you're looking for.

Not in the USA.

Southern Iberian Peninsula, the Azores, Northwestern Morocco, Sicily, southern Italy, a part of Chile, parts of Australia, part of South Africa.

And that's all she wrote ...

(Even in the parts of the Mediterranean I did not list above, it's either too variable in temperature or too wet to match CA, so that rules out Cote D'Azur, Northern Italy, the Balkans, Turkey, the Levant)

The weather in San Jose is very different from that in San Francisco, so which one are you looking for? You may be able to approximate San Francisco's cool/mild/foggy climate in parts of the Oregon coast, although you will have more rain. If you want San Jose weather you can probably find it part-time in several parts of the country, so if you move around with the seasons you may be able to match it.

Tijuana coast anywhere north of Rosarito Beach. Get a Sentri Pass for rapid daily border crossing to your job in San Diego. Problem solved. I did it for several years

LOL, I wish.

The only thing CA has going for it right now is the weather. For some people, that's enough. For us, it's not. I'll miss the weather, I'll miss the state (or rather, the state as it once was and what it could be) but I won't miss the crime, the govt corruption, the liberal intolerance, and the cost of living. It's a give and take--I'll take more purchasing power and an earlier retirement over weather every day.

Good luck, OP in your decision.

You simply won't find anyplace in the US that combines moderate winter and summer temperatures. Florida and Texas have the moderate winters, but mostly scorching summers. You can find lots of higher elevation places in the West, or along the west coast, that have moderate summers, but you get cold and dreary winters.

Your closest might be higher (but not too high) elevations in the Southwest (3000-5000 feet), at least as it compares to San Jose.

Looking at El Paso, TX (3,700 feet), or Albuquerque, NM (5,300 feet), we see that they are in the same ballpark as San Jose (high/low in Fahrenheit, according to Wikipedia):

January
San Jose:59/41
El Paso: 58/32
Albuquerque: 48/25

April
San Jose:74/48
El Paso: 79/50
Albuquerque: 70/44

July
San Jose: 84/62
El Paso: 95/70
Albuquerque: 91/65

October
San Jose: 75/52
El Paso: 78/51
Albuquerque: 70/45

They are both hotter than San Jose in the summer, and cooler in the winter, but they are closer to San Jose than most other areas of the Country, I think. They also probably have similar amounts of sun and precipitation, I'm guessing.

It's the Pacific Ocean that keeps things steady and neutralizes the seasons. It doesn't work that way in TX or FL.
